Edward, to Bella: you’re the reason I have something to fight for. a family.

the Cullens, who put up with his emo ass for over a hundred years: damn, fuck us I guess

This has the same energy as Edward saying he’s never seen a vampire control their thirst for blood as well as Bella does, when Carlisle’s been flexing his impeccable control for centuries

PSA for humanities majors

pagebypagepoetry:

I majored in English and Gender and Women’s Studies, the two most “impractical/useless/unemployable” majors on every college majors list. And yet, I got a job relevant to my major (as an assistant editor) in two months after graduating last May. And I didn’t have connections. I didn’t have to move to a big city. I didn’t have to accept a ridiculously low paying wage. I was lucky, but it’s not impossible.

Many employers in all of the interviews I had (even if they didn’t work out in my favor) were excited to discuss with me how humanities skills are useful in the workplace. So this applies to anyone who wants to study any humanities subject:

Don’t let gen xers and baby boomers scare you away from majoring in what you love due to fear of unemployment. Be realistic, work hard, get as much diverse experiences as possible, but don’t be miserable getting an education in a major you aren’t truly passionate about for future employment that’s never guaranteed no matter what you major in anyway.

left-reminders:

The statement “no one who works 40 hours a week should starve” is the bare minimum of bullshit centrist ideology; the fact that it’s considered a relatively “out there” left-wing idea is absolutely wild. No one should starve, full stop. Especially with the material abundance we now sit upon. Full workers-control-production socialism now.

yet again, incredible takes from Forbes

Who said the rich don’t need the poor to suffer in poverty so the rich get to exist in luxury……

Excuse me what the fuck is that headline

🙂 extreme poverty and death sure is convenient!!!!! – Forbes

The article is just as bad as the headline would indicate

“Socialism is bad because we can’t make unlimited profit through unethical exploitation.”

“Robber barons were good actually, they’re actually Compassionate for keeping you in abject poverty for their benefit by marginally making the Poor’s life slightly more efficient.”

“Cruelty isn’t letting people starve in the streets by the millions, true cruelty is a small handful of people not being obscenely wealthy.”

This is the “let them eat cake” of late capitalism.
