Who says he’s evil? He’s essentially the Abrahamic Prometheus. He sees humans being dumb and ignorant, generally being taken advantage of by god; and he’s like “Hey guys, check this out. Now you can know things, and make your own decisions if you want to.” He literally gave humanity their first choice. How is that evil?
