Why do so many atheists say “religion” when they mean “abrahamic faiths” (usually Christianity). Don’t lump them together. There are literally thousands of religions still being practiced today that are not abrahamic faiths. hell, most people of abrahamic faiths aren’t bad people, either. The shitty ones are just the noisiest. Stop bashing all religion because a handful of Christians piss you off. Not to mention a lot of atheists have misconceptions about abrahamic faiths, and religion in general.

I, for one, tend to dislike religions because (in my experience) they’re just used to justify peoples own prejudices. If someone hates gay people, they just say “My god(s) hate(s) gay people.” If someone hates trans people, they just say “My god(s) hate(s) trans people.” If someone hates and fears progress, they just say that their god(s) want things as they are.

Besides, pure, blind faith is dangerous. Someone who has suspended their critical and rational thought in favour of faith cannot be reasoned with.
