There’s a french saying about stealing shit : “Toujours les magasins, jamais les copains”. It means “always in the big shops, never your friends”.

If you steal from the big corporation it steals money from them. That’s quite punk. Robin Hood kinda punk. But yeah, stealing from little shops, or regular individuals ? Meh.

To reiterate: corporations will always take out shrinkage on the most vulnerable, bottom-tier employees. This mentality always pisses me off because the people that subscribe to it honestly believe that they’re sticking it to corporations, but there’s nothing punk about taking bonuses and jobs from the people that need it the most

Your theft will never make CEOs part with their millions. It will make them tell their employees that they just can’t give them more money, even when they’re already scrimping on employee wages

I’m not a “little edgelord,” I’m a grown, working adult with an opinion that is different from yours. I’ll gladly debate the finer points of shoplifting, but not if you’re going to resort to ad hominem attacks

I’ve worked in the shrink areas of retail for a few years now. Two in accounting and one in invoicing. I’ve been through four inventories as well. The idea that companies take shrink out on the bottom ring of employees is bullshit. It only effects salaried mng and above. We had our worst inventory this store has ever had just a few months ago. Salaried managers bonus was taken away and that was it. Nobodies pay went down. Nobody lost any hours.

However, mng is told to tell hourly associates that if we shrink too much then the hourly associates might loose their bonuses and their hours will drop. It’s a load of crap, but market mng and above think it’ll encourage hourly associates to stop theft; this way the salary mngs get to keep their massive bonuses.

Stealing from big stores does not harm hourly associates in any way. Pay doesn’t go down, and hours remain the same.

I worked in retail for 15 years. On the bottom rung I only had my job threatened because of sales targets. As a manager I had my job threatened because of sales targets, shrinkage, visual merchandising standards, foot traffic, the moon phase, stock levels (even though we had no control over our own inventory), membership recruitment, whether or not the higher ups had coffee that morning, etc.

I’m gonna be 100% honest, I hate these posts. I’ve worked retail, food, entertainment, and production. I’ve had a LOT of jobs. But you know what, I STOLE FROM MY RETAIL JOB! Fuck you idgaf, I’m underpaid and wanted pens and a 25% discount is barely a bonus.

Like can we stop with the moral high ground? some of us are poor and don’t care. If you stealing from a big company cuts my hours that isn’t on you, it’s on the shit business ethics of capitalist pigs. Please steal shit, steal so much that these fucks go bankrupt bc let me tell you, from experience, watching a retail place you stole from go bankrupt WHILE working there…. there is no satisfaction like that. Whoo boy, THAT is some good shit. There will be other shitty jobs to take, there will always be shit jobs to take, but you may never get the chance again to destroy a company in this good ol US of A.
