You believe that the police are inherently corrupt, yes? This would, of course, extend to the government (dont try telling me they dont know; this whole deal lines their pockets). If the (american) police and government are corrupt and biased against the poor, lgbt, poc, etc. Groups (disadvantaged groups), then why advocate for gun control? Taking guns away from these law abiding citizens via repossession of documented firearms leaves unlisted weapons in the hands of the criminals (1/2)

pointlesslypointing:

In the hands of the criminals who bought them illegally in the first place, and also leaves the aforementioned disadvantaged groups (+ their allies) at the mercy of organizations who are already corrupted and who are already prejudiced against them. Once guns are removed from america, these minorites will have no way to protect themseleves from anything the government chooses to do, which means anything that is bad already will immediately become much, much worse. What do you think of this? (2/2

Okay Anon, so let me begin by saying I do not live in America, nor am I trained in firearms; so take anything and everything i say with a grain of salt. Do your own research. Also, I haven’t directly talked about gun control in quite a while, so my views on this topic are not the same as they once were. Now.

Yes I do believe that cops are inherently corrupt, as they swear to uphold all laws, including those that are unjust; and that’s ignoring the multiple cases of “good” cops (comparatively) getting fired for reporting police brutality, sexual assault, general abuses of power, and just general corruption. Shouldn’t take more than a 5 minute google search to get some names. I’m also not going to argue with the claim that the entire US legal system, right up to the top, is a corrupt shit-fest. Whatever your political beliefs, left or right, you can probably agree with that statement.

Now to get to the point of this. At the time of my most recent call for gun control, banning AR-15′s or “Assault Weapons” and the like, I didn’t fully understand the issue. I’ve grown up in a country with pretty rigorous gun control measures, but there are a lot of factors that come into play that frankly I’m too lazy to get into at present. With all this being said, I no longer advocate for banning AR-15′s or “Assault Weapons” (which don’t technically exist, it’s a bit redundant), for several reasons; which rather than listing, I’m going to direct you towards a series of videos by someone more educated on this topic than I am: 1, 2, 3

I guess what I’m saying here is I wholeheartedly agree with almost everything you have just said. While there should be methods put in place to make sure family firearms don’t make it into the hands of angry kids, for example, fingerprint activated safety switches; the entire country shouldn’t be rendered defenceless because some morons treat their guns as though they were an extension of their dicks.  If anything, I believe that firearms shouldn’t be restricted to those who can afford them, as such I DO NOT endorse the NRA. Rather, firearms should be available to anyone and everyone with no history of deliberate/overemotional violence, or arson; through an SRA, if you will. Also, most cops should be unarmed, including small arms. They have shown themselves to be untrustworthy, and should be treated as such; if not abolished altogether.

The one thing i disagree with is this notion of a “law abiding gun owner”. A responsible gun owner is great, and is to be strongly encouraged. A law “abider” however, should not. Here’s why. The second amendment (to my awareness) was formed for three reasons. The first being self defence; the second being so that in the case of enemy invasion, the armed US population (or militia) could join in the fighting with the standing military. The third being so that if the gov’t, cops included, become overbearing and tyrannical, the populace would be able to fight back. Someone who is proud of being a “law abiding gun owner” rather than a responsible one is someone who is saying that they worship the government more than they understand the premises upon which the US was founded; though don’t get me wrong, the US has always been a nation built on the backs of slaves, over the bones of Native Americans, and made rich off of the exploitation of the working class both within and without it’s borders.

Sorry, this got a bit longer than I expected, but I hope I answered your question to the extent you wanted it answered.
