There was a shooting this morning at a high school in my district.

I’m a teacher. Have been for a while. Will be for a long while more, I bet.

I cannot mentally process any more shootings at schools. I can’t. We should all feel safe enough to attend religious services, go to a movie, and go to school without fear.

We all deserve better.

Our communities deserve better.

Our kids deserve better.

I don’t know what to do with these feelings… ever, so I just call my Rep (she’s sticking up for the right people), my Senators (they seem to think doughy white men like them need the protecting not… you know… everyone else), and I keep going to work with the next generation and try to make a difference. Everyday I try to teach kids that I love them no matter what and then try to teach them to love themselves unconditionally, too.

So, I angry cry in my car. I call. I try to make my voice heard. Then I keep going.

There’s so much goodness out there. We just have to keep going.

Vote.

Call.

Keep doing all the good you can.
