If PDA isn’t allowed in an LGBT safe space, it isn’t a safe space.

Apparently, anywhere that’s safe for children isn’t “an LGBT safe space”.

Have some consideration for others.

@thecybersmith I’m sorry, are you saying LGBT people aren’t…safe for children?

I’m saying that PDA isn’t suitable around children.

Innocence is precious and should be preserved.

Public displays of affection… Okay affection can be as simple as patting someone’s cheek, or holding their hand. Watching your parents appropriately display affection teaches you the difference between good and bad touches, what is appropriate with an audience and what is an okay way to touch your partner. PDA is absolutely safe around children provided it’s affection, not dry humping and tongue hockey. In an LGBTQ space, appropriate affection needs to be normalised in order to show the rest of the world we’re normal people in normal relationships, and to show each other we’re no different. To not show affection can be equivalent to saying ‘I don’t want to touch you’ – for some implied insecurity on the other persons part.
